Leading Up To Father's Day '24
Dear Brecken,
It's June 2024, which means it's my 1st Father's Day with you as my son. But before we talk about this weekend, let me first say: YOU HAVE BROUGHT SO MUCH JOY TO SO MANY PEOPLE ALREADY. You are 9 months old now, and you are such a smart, happy, goofy baby, and your smiles just light up every room you enter. I'll do my best to recap the last few months.
- 1st, you have an Instagram Account: Brecken_in_the_trails Is that ridiculous? Of course it is, but don't think people haven't noticed that you've visited more National Parks before age 1 than most people do their whole lives. Instagram is a big deal these days, so let's see what Social Media is doing 18 years from now.
You've hit all your milestones, and once your 2 first teeth came in, you pretty much haven't stopped eating. Your mom bought this food tracking chart, and we started out very slowly...maybe a couple of new vegetables every week. Now, we're taking you to Camino Real and you're eating the full contents of a burrito to include the salsa, guacamole, and spicy chicken. You've eaten Indian food, and Greek food, and Pizza, and 50 fruits and vegetables. One night we gave you corn on the cob and you gnawed through the entire thing, and, just today, your daycare teachers told us how you couldn't get enough Fig Newtons.Brecken April 2024 - In April you started daycare at the Learning Zone Brookshire. They send us daily pics of you and your development--so far we couldn't be happier.
- Within 3 weeks of pulling yourself up on the couch, you made your first trip up an entire flight of stairs...unassisted. So athletic!
- Grandma Ginger has been watching you on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and you love her so much. She really is the best!
You love daily walks--being in your stroller really is your jam!
Big Bro - You are loud. Sometimes really loud. Sometimes you just scream when you're happy, and Logan has found this new game with you were you just take turns yelling at each other and getting louder and louder.
- Leah loves showing you off to all her friends. I'm sure you've been included in 1000 snap chats by now.
- You and I have bonded like true father's and sons should: by breaking all the rules. Staying up too late and eating stuff you shouldn't eat.
- And finally, your Mommy. There aren't enough ways to write and describe how much she loves you. I know this because she tells me (and you) 50 times a day. Watching her be a first-time-Mother, and embrace you so deeply and so unconditionally, has been a joy to witness. She loves you from the moment you wake up all the way through the nights you won't go to sleep. She rocks you patiently and sings all the songs (she has some made up for you) while she rocks you as long as it takes. She'll call me during the day to tell me how much she misses you when you're in daycare.
Like I said in the beginning, you've brough a lot of joy to a lot of people, and I haven't even mentioned all the friends who stop by just to hold you for 15 minutes.
The journey has been so much fun so far, so keep on cruising up those stairs and eating like a Champ!
Love,
